Luting of vented and etched crowns.

چکیده
Introduction A frictional fitting crown is in intimate contact with the tooth whereas a passive fitting crown has more spaces and does not resist a vertical withdrawing force. The space between the tooth and the crown has been termed the precementation space.' lt is the size of this precementation space and the technique of creating iP5 that greatly influence the seating of a crown during cementation. I t has been shown that it is advantageous to have an increased precementation space as crowns made using die relief methods have approximately 25 per cent' more retention following cementation than crowns constructed on the same unrelieved die. However, it must be noted when increasing the precementation space that retention diminishes approximately one-third as the final cement thickness increases from 20 p n to 140 p n . 6 Venting,'-'o of crowns to allow improved seating and marginal fit of a crown on cementation has been used by many researchers to show consistently improved marginal fit over those non-vented crowns. However, not all research" has proved the need for venting. Vented crowns have been compared to non-vented crowns with an increased precementation space and showed an ~

The Effect of Abutment Surface Roughness on the Retention of Implant-Supported Crowns Cemented with Provisional Luting Cement
Introduction: Surface roughness can increase the retention of castings by ridges and grooves that are microretentive. This study compared the retention of implant-supported crowns when used with 3 different surface roughness abutments and one temporary cement. Methods: Thirty solid abutments (ITI), 4 mm high, were divided into three groups randomly. In the first group, 10 abutments were roughen...
متن کاملComparative evaluation of marginal leakage of provisional crowns cemented with different temporary luting cements: In vitro study
BACKGROUND OR STATEMENT OF PROBLEM As, the longevity of provisional restorations is related to, a perfect adaptation and a strong, long-term union between restoration and teeth structures, therefore, evaluation of marginal leakage of provisional restorative materials luted with cements using the standardized procedures is essential. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To compare the marginal leakage of the p...
متن کاملLong-term success rate of resin-bonded metal crowns on the canine teeth of working dogs.
In this clinical study, 19 full metal crown restorations of canine teeth were placed in seven working dogs. Thirteen canine teeth were severely abraded with no involvement of the pulp cavities; six fractured canine teeth were endodontically treated. At least 1/3 of the coronal part of the canine tooth was available for a supragingivally performed, minimal tooth crown preparation. An adhesive te...
متن کاملIn Vitro Fit and Cementation Resistance of Provisional Crowns for Single Implant-Supported Restorations.
This study aimed to verify marginal fit and the effect of cement film thickness standardization on retention of provisional crowns made with prefabricated acrylic cylinders on abutments, using two temporary luting agents subjected or not to mechanical cycling. Provisional crowns were made from bis-acryl (Luxatemp Fluorescence) or methyl methacrylate (Duralay) resins on acrylic cylinders and mar...
متن کاملA split-mouth randomized clinical trial of single crowns retained with resin-modified glass-ionomer and zinc phosphate luting cements.
PURPOSE This study compared the influence of two luting cements on the clinical performance of single crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty patients received 39 pairs of metal-ceramic and Procera crowns cemented with zinc phosphate and resin-modified glass-ionomer luting cement (Vitremer) in a split-mouth randomized pattern blinded to the recipient. The crowns were examined immediately after c...
